Street and Sewer Maintenance Equipment

Reliable Proven Performance for Street Maintenance.

Choosing the right sweeper for your specific application means more productive routes, lower operating costs, and a great long-term investment for your operation.

The Challenge

Picking the right machine for the right application?

  • Catch basin cleaning to keep stormwater flowing and prevent street flooding
  • Construction and post-paving debris pickup, including road millings and chip seal
  • Routine maintenance sweeping where light debris and curbside leaves matter most
  • Heavy-debris routes that jam light-duty sweepers and shorten broom life
  • Aging dual-engine sweepers running up maintenance hours and downtime
  • Tight residential routes with cul-de-sacs that full-size four-wheel sweepers can't turn in
How We Solve It

Equipment That Delivers

  • Mechanical broom sweepers for heavy, bulky debris like construction cleanup, road millings, and chip seal
  • Regenerative air sweepers for high-frequency maintenance routes and lighter material on flat surfaces
  • Pure vacuum sweepers for porous pavements, uneven curb lines, and deep gutter cleaning
  • Three-wheel platforms with tight turning radius for residential and downtown routes
  • Single-engine designs that eliminate one set of oil changes, filters, and belts versus dual-engine sweepers
  • Demos on your actual streets, so you see hopper capacity, sweep rate, and maneuverability before you buy
Why BEC

Prescription without diagnosis is malpractice. We sell mechanical, regenerative air, and vacuum sweepers, so we can talk honestly about which one fits your debris, your routes, and your budget. Demos on your streets before you commit.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between mechanical, regenerative air, and vacuum street sweepers?

Mechanical broom sweepers use rotating brooms to move debris onto a conveyor and into a hopper. They are the best choice for heavy materials like gravel, road millings, and construction debris, and they account for 60–70% of US sweepers. Regenerative air sweepers move material into the hopper with a high-volume closed-loop air system. They sweep cleaner than mechanical units on flat, well-maintained surfaces and excel at light routine maintenance. Pure vacuum sweepers operate like a giant vacuum cleaner, exhausting air out of the body. They are the most adaptable first-pass sweeper for porous pavements, uneven surfaces, and deep overlaid curb lines.

How do I choose the right sweeper type for my routes?

Mechanical broom is best for municipal and contractor operations, road construction and resurfacing, and infrequent or heavy-debris sweeping. Regenerative air is best for regularly maintained areas, light debris, and flat surfaces. Pure vacuum is best for porous pavements, uneven surfaces, and deep curb lines. Approximately 85% of street debris is found within 18 inches of the curb, so any sweeper you pick must reach the gutter, that is where most of the material lives.

What is the difference between three-wheel and four-wheel mechanical sweepers?

Three-wheel mechanical sweepers offer a tight turning radius (typically 12 to 13 feet) and lower travel speeds (20–25 mph max). They are built for residential cul-de-sacs, downtown districts, and tight urban routes. Four-wheel mechanical sweepers carry larger hoppers and travel at highway speeds, making them the right choice for arterial routes, DOT shoulder programs, and high-mileage deployments.

Does the City Jet use the same chassis as the Global M3 or M4?

No. The Global City Jet is a body-only solution built by FAUN. You supply the truck chassis and FAUN provides the sweeping system on top. The M3 and M4 are purpose-built chassis-and-body sweepers from Global Environmental. The City Jet approach lets fleets standardize on a single truck brand and is best suited to downtown cleaning on narrow streets where a full-size V6Air won't fit.

How many curb miles can a street sweeper cover per day?

A typical municipal sweeper covers 40–60 curb miles per 8-hour shift, depending on debris load, dumping frequency, and route density. Single-engine designs improve fuel efficiency compared to dual-engine sweepers because there is only one engine to run, fuel, and service.

How do I maintain a street sweeper?

Daily maintenance includes inspecting and adjusting brooms, checking water levels for dust suppression, emptying the hopper, and cleaning filters. Broom replacement is the most frequent wear item, typical gutter brooms last 50–100 hours. Regenerative air and vacuum sweepers also require periodic blower bearing inspection and hopper screen cleaning.

Another Way to Get the Job Done

Sweep with one machine that also plows and mows.

If you're sizing a dedicated sweeper but your downtown routes are tight, a Multihog or Energreen with a sweeping head clears the curb line, then earns its keep through snow, mowing, and pressure-washing the rest of the year. A different conversation than a $300K dedicated chassis.
